The Montessori Approach

The Montessori approach is an educational philosophy and method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century. It emphasizes a child-centered approach to education, focusing on the holistic development of each child—physical, social, emotional, and cognitive—through self-directed learning in a prepared environment.

The Difference

In a traditional daycare, the goal is to provide a safe, nurturing place for children while parents work. Children may participate in crafts, circle time, free play, and outdoor play, and teachers generally guide the schedule for the group.

In a Montessori school, the environment is designed to help children become independent, capable learners. Rather than asking, "How can we keep children busy?" we ask, "What skills is this child ready to develop?" Every material has a purpose, and children learn by doing real, meaningful work at their own pace.

For example, instead of everyone making the same craft, one child may be washing a table, another building words with the Moveable Alphabet, another tracing sandpaper letters, and another preparing a snack... all while developing concentration, coordination, independence, and confidence.

Nido

Welcome to our Nido room, an environment specially designed for our youngest learners, aged 6 weeks to 12 months. Derived from the Italian word for "nest," Nido is a cozy haven where infants are given the freedom to explore their world at their own pace.

Toddlers

Welcome to our toddler community, a lively and supportive space tailored for our energetic explorers, aged 12 months to 3 years. Inspired by Montessori principles, our three toddler rooms offer a nurturing atmosphere where children are encouraged to learn and grow through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions.

Pre-Primary

Our Pre-Primary classroom is an engaging environment designed for children ages 2 to 4 years old. Guided by Montessori principles, this classroom uses purposeful, hands-on activities and gentle guidance so children can build coordination, learn to care for themselves and their environment, and begin developing the focus needed for future academic success.

Primary

Welcome to our Primary Montessori classroom, a dynamic and enriching space tailored for children aged 3 to 6 years old. Rooted in Montessori philosophy, our Primary environment is a hub of exploration, discovery, and collaborative learning. Here, children are empowered to follow their natural curiosity, engage in purposeful activities, and cultivate a love for lifelong learning.
